We Grow Justice
We believe that everyone should have access to healthy, nutritional food, which is why we own 8 lots for food growing and grow food at each one of our homes. In 2017, we grew over 900 lbs of food.
Our Urban Garden Project brings residents together around the production, distribution, and consumption of food. It is a catalyst for neighborhood involvement, as we share our bounty with our neighbors, and swap seedlings and plants.
The Urban Garden Project is also a springboard for food education and food justice, providing opportunities for our surrounding community and Grand Rapids as a whole to learn more about food, to provide more access to healthy food and to challenge the existing food system that is based more on profit than the idea that food is fundamental right of everyone.
